We are well located for both the country and coastal area of Northumberland and not too far from the border with Scotland.
Bamburgh is well worth a visit. It is a lovely little village with lots of places to eat. It has a fantastic beaches, the castle is a must see, with good displays of information on its history and its owners including the great innovator and inventor Lord Armstrong. Places to eat, The Copper Kettle and The Lobster Pot.
Holy Island has plenty to offer with all its ancient history, The Priory, Lindisfarne Castle, and the walled garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll is very popular. Other places to visit are The Lindisfarne Mead Company and Pilgrims Coffee House.
Catch a boat trip around the Farne Islands from Seahouses. Check out Billy Shiels web site.
St Cuthberts Cave can be seen from The Shepherds Hut. Walking through a pine wood you will arrive at the cave where Saint Cuthbert's remains were brought to protect them from Viking raiders. With views across the Cheviots it is a lovely place to sit and have a picnic in shelter. From there a short walk over the moor up to the trig point, on a clear day you can see Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh and Bambrough along the coast line.
If you want to head inland there are very good walks from Wooler into the National Park, Linhope Spout, Yeavering Bell or Cheviot to name just a few.
